Jane Geiger Knox

Jane Geiger Knox went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her husband, Jerry on Nov. 12, 2022, in Cary. She lived in North Carolina since 1966 when she moved from West Virginia with her late husband, Jerry, who loved and cherished her for 65 years.

Jane was the second daughter of John and Gladys Geiger. John was a school superintendent in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Gladys was a devoted wife and mother. Jane graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1953 and attended University of Michigan from 1953 to 1957. She was a kindergarten teacher and married Jerry Knox in 1957.

They moved to Toledo, Ohio, where they made their home for 5 years and had three sons. Then Jerry took a job with Johnson Service Company in Charleston, West Virginia, where their daughter was born.

In 1966, they moved to Greensboro where they raised their children and became very involved in the community. Jane was an amazing woman as she supported her husband in his vocation, was involved in her children’s schools and extra-curricular activities. She helped all three sons receive their Eagle Scout awards and her daughter’s involvement in Girls Scouts. Jerry and Jane were active members at Trinity Church and served on the Young Life Committee. Later, they helped establish Greensboro Bible Church. Jane was a devoted Christian, with gifts of hospitality and service as she faithfully opened her heart and home to many — family, friends and missionaries. She was involved in various women’s Bible studies and Christian Women’s Club, as well as supporting her husband whose service and philanthropy for Christ reached many worldwide. Jane had a beautiful voice and loved to sing in the choir, as well as play the handbells.

After retirement, Jane and Jerry moved to Old North State, N.C., where Jane enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. Later they moved to Bermuda Village in Advance where they lived for 13 years. In 2021, they moved to Cary to be closer to family.

Jane is survived by three sons, John (Laurie) of Greensboro, Tom (Karen) of Apex, Dan (Suzanne) of Cary; daughter, Sarah (Eric) of Apex; grandchildren, Matthew Knox (Kathleen), Michael Knox (Meredith), Amy-Marie Knox Coccoma (Anthony), Brittany Knox Spivey (Peyton), Andrew Knox (Megan), Emily Knox Van Eerden (James), Erin Knox Schneider (Jonathan), Nathaniel Bush (Meredith), Hannah Bush Nicola (Henry), Abigail Bush; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Lois Holmes, and husband, Jerry Knox.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Jane Knox to Young Life at Greensboro Young Life Office, 4713 Kingswood Dr., Greensboro, NC 27410, or to the River Oaks Community Church – mission fund at 1855 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012 or Westover Church – mission fund, 505 Muirs Chapel Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410.
