Kiwanis of Clemmons members took advantage of several opportunities to be of service in the area during January and February. Some of the members were able to assist Tiffany Birdsong with organization of storage areas at the Fostering Faith Foundation.

The speaker at the Jan. 4 membership meeting was Jeanie Wilson with Read, Write, Spell. Wilson spoke to the club about the literacy/tutoring program designed for second to fifth graders. She pointed out the positive impact strong literacy skills had student’s lives. She outlined ways club members could volunteer to assist with the program. Each speaker is honored by a book with their name in it being presented to the local Smart Start Program.

At the February meeting, Jessica Swanson, independent living director for Trinity Elms, spoke to the club members. She spoke about the different living options available at Trinity Elms from assisted to independent living. She told the members of several ways they could be of volunteer service to the residents there.

Club members Mike Watson, Chris Billups, Tony Rossi and Ina Beavers were privileged to be of assistance to the Twin City Kiwanis Club during its Annual Pancake Jamboree. They enjoyed helping with the event and were very impressed with the magnitude and efficiency of the operation.

The club discussed plans to attend upcoming events such as the monthly highway cleanup, Clemmons Community Day and assisting with the Fostering Faith Foundation’s upcoming Soft Golf Tournament.
