North Carolina Zoo

Teen programs
Button-Making for Teens
Throughout the summer, teens can drop in to the Lewisville Branch Library to make their own button. Create a collage, a mantra or bring in a photo to make a beautiful new button. Fresh Ink: A Teen Writers’ Group

Do you have a story to tell? Ever want to start a journal or learn more about how to tell a good story? Fresh Ink is a new teen writers’ group that will allow you to express yourself in a myriad of ways. Instructor Susan Lewis will guide writers through different writing exercises and prompts, encouraging all types of writing and giving writers insight into areas including publishing and filmmaking. College Foundation of North Carolina: Getting Ready for College: What to do in grades 9-12 to be prepared for college

Takeila Hall, the College Foundation of N.C. regional representative, will visit to speak on what students need to do in grades 9-12 to get into college and financial aid options. These will be hybrid presentations with an in-person and a virtual option.

Yoga for Beginners

Away We Go! Summer Film Series

Travel the world for free — one movie at a time — from the library. The library will host a summer movie series on Monday afternoons. The setting for each movie will be in a different country so that you can get a glimpse of the scenery, people and customs from around the world. Audience: adults and families. Witchy Washi & What Not Crafts

The “Magic” of Watercolors (for beginners)

Join in as local artist Patty Donoghue teaches watercolor painting for beginners. This class will include both instruction and hands-on practice. Donoghue’s goal is for participants to gain interest and confidence in exploring their own art journey while learning several watercolor techniques. An illustrator and fine-art artist, as well as a licensed occupational therapist by trade for many years, Donoghue is mindful of the therapeutic benefits of creating art for reducing stress and anxiety. Supplies will be provided. Registration is required as supplies are limited.
