The Irish poet William Allingham may have famously written “Autumn’s the mellow time,” but members of Bermuda Run Garden Club have been far from “mellow” during this autumn. During the past month, members submitted container plants, horticulture specimens and floral designs into the competitive Carolina Classic Fair Flower Show, resulting in 89 ribbons for participating members. Second Vice President Beth Wright was awarded the Color Award in the Design Division with her submission “Vincent van Gogh.” Noted Camellia expert Will Ferrell spoke to a full house at the club’s October meeting to share helpful information, beautiful photos and specimens of fall- and winter-blooming camellias. And despite a rainy start to the day, the garden club’s October shredding event was once again a huge success, assisting customers who were pleased to have the opportunity to safely dispose of private documents, as well as earning funds which the garden club will use to support many Davie County charitable organizations.
