CLEMMONS — November is a short month for the Titans, with many breaks and days off, but the start of the second quarter still hosts a multitude of activities and events. One of these events was the varsity football team’s first-round home playoff game versus Ardrey Kell, in which the Titans took a 32-15 win. It was the first time in seven years that West has won a playoff game. The Titans take on 6th-seeded Butler on the road Friday, Nov. 10, to try and continue their postseason run.
Both boys and girls varsity basketball play this Saturday, Nov. 11, with the boys hosting Central Davidson and the girls hosting Southeast Guilford at 9 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., respectively.
The newly named “Titan Beginnings” event was held on Nov. 7 and was attended by many prospective West students and their families. The event featured performances by the cheer and dance teams, band, drama department, chorus and JROTC. Rising first-year students also got the opportunity to explore the vast campus of the village and get info on different course selections and clubs West has to offer. The Titans are excited to welcome some of these students to campus next year.
Senior Day is being held today, Nov. 9. Seniors arrive at one of two staggered arrival times: students with last names A-M reporting to either the Simpson Gymnasium or the Anderson Performing Arts Center (APAC) at 8 a.m., and students with last names N-Z reporting to the APAC at 10:30 a.m. Juniors who are graduating early must also attend. During Senior Day, students will record their full name for graduation, take cap and gown photos and confirm their order for their own cap and gown. Seniors are then excused from classes the rest of the day, group one at 10:30 a.m. and group two at 1 p.m.
Theatre productions are in full swing in the village once more. The Drama Department will present its full-length fall play, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged,” in the APAC next week, Nov. 15-18, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door. Since the cast of this production is only three people, the department has double cast the play, giving more students the opportunity to perform. Cast A will go on on Nov. 15 and 17, and Cast B on Nov. 16 and 18. Come out, support your peers and have a laugh at this comedy production.
Have a great week, Titans.
