Mary Alice Warren Community Center programming grants
Grants for up to $2,500 were available for nonprofits to provide affordable and accessible programming at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center in the fall of 2023 and winter of 2024. Grants were made possible by a one-time grant from the Emily Millis-Hiatt Fund of the High Point Community Foundation. Applications were reviewed by a team of community volunteers who submitted their funding recommendations to the Shallow Ford Foundation’s board of directors.
40+ Stage Company
Dramatic Reading Classes for Seniors and Advanced Acting Class.
An entry-level class for participants age 50 or older who want to gain confidence in speaking and performing in public. No memorization or experience is required.
Advanced Acting Class is designed to fill a need for those who participated in earlier classes at the center and want to continue to work on their presentation and performance skills. Those with some amateur stage experience may also participate.

Well Beyond Cancer workshops
Sessions provide a combination of healing art activity, wellness education programs and survivorship social connections.
Crisis Control Ministry
Crisis Control Ministry poverty simulation
This simulation explores the concrete facts of poverty in the U.S. and examines personal and social perceptions of our community. Participants are challenged to navigate the complex world of government services and other essential service providers to provide basic necessities and shelter for their families over a simulated month.
North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center
4-H STEAMSpark
A captivating and interactive STEAM program designed to ignite the curiosity and creativity of youth aged 9-13 and their families. Through this program, participants will embark on an exciting journey into the world of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, where they’ll explore the foundations of STEAM programming in a fun and engaging way.
Reynolda House
Reynolda discovery lessons
This program engages children and their caregivers with works in Reynolda’s collection, offering young children an opportunity to explore works of art through age-appropriate themes and activities. Children will enjoy storytelling, thematically relevant discovery play and hands-on art experiences that connect to artworks in Reynolda’s collection. The selected activities will foster skills for young children in areas of literacy, visual literacy, and motor development.
Salem Band
Holiday swing concert/dance by Salem Swing Band and swing dance lesson/concert with Salem Swing Band and The Cat’s Pajamas
These programs feature a concert performance by Salem Swing Band and dance lessons from The Cat’s Pajamas. Suitable for all ages and skill levels.
Winston-Salem Symphony
Symphony serenades and lectures for the classically curious
Four performances by Winston-Salem Symphony ensembles and two lecture sessions for the “Classically Curious.” Professional musicians of the orchestra will perform as a combination of duets, trios and quartets with different instrumentation. During each performance, the participating musicians will speak to the audience and describe what they are playing, the composer’s background and the historical context of the piece.
Clemmons-Lewisville Community Grants
This competitive grant process was open to nonprofits serving Clemmons and Lewisville. Grants of up to $10,000 were available to provide solutions to unmet community needs. Applications were reviewed by teams of community volunteers who submitted recommendations to the Shallow Ford Foundation’s board of directors. Funding comes from The Lewisville Community Fund, The Thad and Mary Bingham Donor Advised Fund, the Women Who Care About Community Fund, The Keoleian Family Fund and an anonymous fund.
Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation (AARF)
Step Up for Seniors
Step Up for Seniors is a program in which AARF assists senior citizens residing in Lewisville and Clemmons with caring for their pets in their homes through assistance such as volunteer dog walking services, grooming services, pet food, transportation to/from veterinary offices and financial assistance with pet vaccines and medications.

Cancer survivor engagement & patient advocacy
Survivor Engagement & Patient Advocacy programs connect survivors to direct financial assistance, in-kind assistance programs, survivorship and wellness programs, and equipment and medical supplies.
Children’s Law Center of Central North Carolina
Child advocacy in Forsyth County
Support for Children’s Law Center of Central North Carolina’s Custody Advocacy Program (CAP) in Forsyth County. CAP provides a voice for vulnerable children in court proceedings by advocating for their best interests in domestic violence cases and high conflict custody cases.
Fostering Faith Foundation
Helping children find ‘a forever home’
Support to facilitate the licensing of more foster families in the Lewisville-Clemmons area by organizing a number of MAPPS classes in Clemmons/Lewisville. MAPPS programs help prospective foster and adoptive parents make informed, mutual decisions with the agency about whether foster parenting or adopting is right for their family.

Outdoor 3-D artwork to celebrate the town of Lewisville
A matching grant to assist in the commission and installation of a public work of art to add beauty to the community and help illuminate the perspectives, relationships, and narratives of residents.

Funding to supply wishes for children living with critical illnesses in Clemmons.
Senior Services Inc.
Meals-on-Wheels for aging adults in Clemmons and Lewisville
Funding to support the cost of providing Meals-on-Wheels for individuals for one year. Meals-on-Wheels provides nutritious home-delivered meals consisting of one-third of the recommended daily allowance of nutrients for aging adults age 60+ who are homebound and unable to obtain or prepare their own meals.
