With the third quarter coming to an end and spring break beginning on Friday, the Titans are moving into their final stretch of the 2023-24 school year.
Thank you to everyone who came and watched and supported “Anastasia.” The Titans even hosted Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Superintendent Tricia McManus during their Saturday performance, the first time in recent history that West has had the district superintendent at a theatre performance.
By this point in the year, most if not all colleges have finished releasing decisions, and seniors are now in the final stage of their own college decision making process, with the May 1 commitment deadline fast approaching. Congratulations to everyone who has gotten into the schools they wanted to, and best of luck in the coming weeks.
AP exams are just around the corner, Titans. By the time spring break is over, there will be less than a month until the start of the Advanced Placement course exams. Spring break is a great time to get a jump start on studying, even if it’s just organizing your notes so you’re prepared when school starts back up again. Best of luck.
With this time of year also comes the midpoint of the season for the spring athletics. The girls varsity soccer team has been on a hot streak recently, with wins over Parkland 9-0 on the road on March 18, Glenn 9-0 at home on March 20 and arch-rivals Reagan 4-2 on Monday. They also visited Davie on Tuesday for their final game before spring break. The varsity baseball team split their back-to-back games with Reagan, taking a 5-3 win at home on March 19 and suffering a 2-0 loss on the road on March 21. They then bounced back to take a 6-0 win over Cornerstone Charter on the road on March 22 and hosted Glenn on Tuesday. The boys are set to visit Glenn tomorrow for a rematch. The varsity softball team shutout both their opponents last week, with a 2-0 road win over Davie on March 19 and a 6-0 road win over East Surry on March 20. They started this week with double 15-0 wins in their road doubleheader with Mount Tabor on Monday, and then hosted East Forsyth on Tuesday. The girls are set to visit South Stokes tonight for their next game. The boys and girls varsity lacrosse teams had opposite records heading into the week as well; the boys were winless, going 0-9 and the girls were undefeated, going 9-0.
Enjoy your spring break, Titans, and come back ready to take on the final quarter of the school year.
