CLEMMONS — As the school year winds down, upperclassmen and senior events are on the rise to celebrate the closing weeks of another year in the village. West’s annual prom will be held roughly the same as usual, at the Millennium Center at 7 p.m. This year, the prom committee offered voting between three themes earlier in the year, “Masquerade,” “Tale As Old As Time” and “An Evening In Paris,” and the latter ultimately came out on top. This week, students also nominated and voted on their prom court, and the results will be revealed at the event this weekend. As always, light refreshments and photo opportunities will be offered. It’s sure to be a fun night for all students involved.

West is hosting a field trip for all seniors to go and do a walk-through visit of their elementary school on May 16. The trip will likely cover Morgan, Lewisville, Southwest, Ward and Clemmons elementary schools, depending on how many students sign up for each school. Seniors must wear their graduation gowns on the trip, or else they will not be allowed to attend. Permission forms for this excursion are due Friday, April 26.

Titan athletes are in their final weeks of their regular seasons, and that means big pushes for the playoffs for the teams in contention. The girls varsity soccer team started the week atop the Central Piedmont Conference with an 8-0 record in conference play, continuing that record with a 9-0 shutout win over Parkland at home on Monday. They continued their week’s schedule at North Davidson on Tuesday and visiting Glenn Wednesday evening. The varsity baseball team took down North Surry 4-3 on the road on Monday and came home for East Forsyth on Tuesday. The boys play their final game of the regular season at East tonight.

The varsity softball team started with a 9-8 home win over East Wilkes on Monday, and continued with a home double header with R.J. Reynolds Tuesday night. The girls visit East Forsyth tonight as well to finish their regular season. The girls varsity lacrosse team remained dominant last week, with wins over R.J. Reynolds, Hough and East Forsyth, before finishing the season home against Davie on Tuesday. With so many teams currently in postseason position, these last few months are shaping up to be potentially some of the strongest the athletic department as a whole has had in recent years.
