Chaplin named April Clemmons Rotary Student of the Month

CLEMMONS — Caman Chaplin was recognized on April 17 as the Rotary Club of Clemmons Student of the Month for April.
In nominating Chaplin n for Student of the Month, a representative of West Forsyth High School described Chaplin as follows: “Chaplin is a humble, intelligent, well-rounded leader on our campus. He challenges himself academically as he has taken honors courses and accessed the Career and College Promise program at Forsyth Tech. In addition to his dedication to football and track & field at West, he carves out time to give back to his community through service with various organizations. Chaplin has been a stellar student-athlete at West and is a great example for current and future West Forsyth Titans.”
Chaplin is an excellent student with a GPA of 4.07 and his academic honors include: National Honor Society; Crosby Scholar; 10th grade Student of the Year in English.
Extra-curricular activities and cubs include: member of Key Club; member of YMCA Black Achievers; member of the indoor/outdoor track teams; member of the varsity football team from 10-12th grades.
As a member of the varsity football team, he had several accomplishments and honors.
As a junior, he was named Central Piedmont 4A All Conference, set a single game school rushing record of 362 yards, and named to the Winston-Salem Journal First Team All-Area Squad.
As a senior, he was named the Central Piedmont 4A All Conference Offensive Player of the Year; Winston-Salem Journal First Team All-Area Offensive Player of the Year; set a single game rushing school record of 365 yards; single season rushing school record of 2,255 yards; Game of Inches Player of the Game week two and in week nine; Comeback Player of year in 2023; Your Triad Sports.com Player of the Week I weeks two and five; West Forsyth H.S Zephyr Student Athlete of the Month for September; Triad Football Player of the Week for weeks five, nine and 11; Fox 8 Performance Edge Player of the Week for week eight; WXII News Play of the Week for weeks six, seven and nine; and Friday Night Rivals Scholar Athlete of the Week for week 11.
Chaplin is also passionate about giving back to the community and his activities include tutoring elementary students in math and reading; serving food to the homeless; assisted in various ways for the West Forsyth Media Center; volunteered at the Buddy Walk for Greater Winston-Salem Down Syndrome; Volunteered at the YMCA Mistletoe Run 5k; volunteered at New Jerusalem Church Food Pantry; volunteered at the 5th Annual Dirty Dozen 5k at Jerry Long YMCA; and volunteered at Mt. Moriah Outreach Church Food Bank.
Chaplin has received a full football scholarship to Fayetteville State University where he will major in either mechanical or industrial engineering.
