CLEMMONS — Clemmons Presbyterian Church welcomed a new reverend this month.
Doctor Troy Lesher-Thomas became the church’s new pastor effective Aug. 1.
Lesher-Thomas grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in Stuarts Draft. It was a small-town experience blessed by a church that welcomed Lesher-Thomas at the age of 13. He “found” the church through his participation in the Boy Scouts while serving during worship on Scout Sundays.

Finley Memorial Presbyterian Church made a space for Lesher-Thomas to learn the stories of faith, grow in leadership and discern a call to ministry.

Following graduations from Virginia Tech and Union Presbyterian Seminary, Lesher-Thomas began his professional ministry in North Carolina and has served in our state since 1999.

He brings a wealth of experience from rural congregations along with interim ministry that has taken him into urban contexts. Lesher-Thomas has served in installed pastorates for 17 years and in interim ministry for 8 years. He enjoys home improvement projects, working on cars, working outdoors and volunteering in the community.

Lesher-Thomas is also an avid reader and tries to blend professional reading with leisure reading. His wife, Mitzi, is an ordained Presbyterian clergywoman and together they have two children.

He was welcomed during a special first Sunday service on Aug. 4. For more information, visit the church’s website at www.clemmonspresbyterian.org.

Clemmons Presbyterian Church is located at 3930 Clemmons Road, Clemmons.
