Cruise-in raises funds for local law enforcement

CLEMMONS — Sweet rides and people alike gathered at the Jerry Long YMCA this past weekend for an exciting evening.
Foundation 34 presented the first annual Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Family Food Truck Festival and Cruise-In.
The festival featured hundreds of classic muscle cars on display, along with new cars and motorcycles.
Local businesses generously donated multiple items that were raffled, including a Blackstone grill, an electric Honda youth bike, car maintenance items and multiple rounds of golf.
A 50/50 raffle was also available. In addition to the cars participating in the cruise-in, there were multiple food trucks lining the track serving a variety of food and tasty treats.
The event helped raise money for a fund through Foundation 34 that will help support deputies and teammates of the FCSO in times of loss, crisis or unexpected life events.
“It is imperative that we ensure our fellow members of the FCSO and their families are supported during times of need,” said a release from Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Manager Daniel Crews.
According to its website, Foundation 34 is a local organization with a simple mission: “To provide the needed resources for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office to implement programs and support programs that make Forsyth County a safer place to live.”
Foundation 34, Inc. provides funding to allow the sheriff’s office to improve and strengthen our community through partnerships and collaborations.
“We do this by partnering with organizations and individuals who share our passion for making a positive difference in the lives of those who serve and our communities,” the website says.
Expanding on its offerings, Foundation 34’s website says, “Whether it’s providing financial assistance to families of fallen officers, supporting training programs for new recruits or helping to purchase equipment and technology that can improve officer safety, we are committed to making a meaningful impact.”
Events like the one on Saturday make that mission a reality.
