CLEMMONS — A juvenile was taken into custody after deputies said that they struck another student in the head with a laptop computer at Clemmons Middle School.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office initially began to investigate after their school resource officers were notified of an aggravated assault that had taken place at the middle school, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. Deputies reportedly learned during the investigation that a student had purposefully struck another student in the head with a laptop computer, injuring them.
The sheriff’s office then contacted the N.C. Department of Juvenile Justice and requested a secure custody order for felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, which was granted. The student was then placed in a juvenile detention center.
“This type of conduct will not be tolerated nor accepted by any means and will be prosecuted to the fullest. As always, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is fully committed to fostering a safe and conducive learning environment for students, faculty, and staff,” said Chief Deputy Henry Gray in the release.
