CLEMMONS — Knights of Columbus Council 9499 will be presenting the 4th annual Cars For A Cause show benefiting special-needs programs on Saturday in the parking lot of Holy Family Parish, located at 4820 Kinnamon Road in Clemmons.

The event lasts from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

While there is no entry fee, donations are accepted and prizes will be awarded for “Best Motorcycle,” “Best in Show” and “People’s Choice,” among others.

The Knights are expecting more than 100 automobiles, with judging in those categories, along with food trucks, a 50/50 raffle, and an opportunity to contribute to the fundraising efforts for local special needs programs.

In addition to Knights of Columbus, sponsors include Squid’s Rod Shop and Kevin Powell’s Foothills Ford.

For many years, one of the signs that fall had arrived was familiar yellow apron sightings and Tootsie Rolls. Volunteer members of the Knights of Columbus have worn these aprons as part of a fundraising effort for the Least Among My Brethren (LAMB) Foundation.

For years they have offered free Tootsie Rolls to passersby in front of grocery chains and shopping centers, soliciting donations for individuals with intellectual challenges in North Carolina.

Recently, the Knights of Columbus Council at Holy Family Parish in Clemmons added another fun event to help local special needs programs. In line with an expanding market of events in Forsyth County, they are again hosting the Annual Cars for a Cause. Last year’s show was a success as more than 100 vintage, collectible and show cars and motorcycles joined together for a memorable morning.

The LAMB Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in North Carolina was started 50 years ago by the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic Men’s Organization numbering over 17,000 in North Carolina and nearly 750 in Forsyth and Davie counties. As unpaid volunteers, they have raised over $2.5 million in Forsyth and Davie Counties to help support organizations such as The Centers For Exceptional Children (The Children’s Center and The Special Children’s School), Special Olympics of Forsyth and Davie counties, Downs Syndrome Association of Forsyth County and Special Needs Classroom programs in WSFC Schools. State-wide, Knights of Columbus have raised and contributed $20 million through LAMB.
