Earlier this month, Emma Norman was recognized as the Rotary Club of Clemmons “Student of the Month” for September.
In nominating Norman, a school official at West Forsyth described her as follows: “Emma is a senior volleyball player and has been a member of the beach volleyball team for the past 3 years. She is the president of the Key Club, works as a lifeguard, and maintains a high academic standard for herself. She is a straight-A student, striving to attend a high academic 4-year university while maintaining a good balance in her athletics and extracurriculars. Emma is a delightful student, very respectful and makes others around her better by her positivity and high standards.”
Norman has a grade point average of 4.5 and is in the top 5 percent of her class. Her academic honors include: National Honor Society; Spanish National Honor Society; and Science National Honor Society.
Extracurricular activities and clubs include: Key Club president; Student Government Association member and class representative; Girls Service Club member; and Chick-fil-a Leadership Academy attendee.
As a member of the beach volleyball team, Norman and her playing partner won the state championship in her junior year.
She has participated in and led in many community service projects as part of her school’s clubs and is passionate about giving back to her community. She has worked at YMCA, teaching swim lessons and is a lifeguard.
In addition, she has found the time to become CPR-certified, OSHA-certified, and Stop-the-Bleed certified.
Norman hopes to attend UNC Chapel Hill and possibly major in nursing.
The Rotary Club of Clemmons congratulates Emma for her accomplishments and contributions to her school and community, the organization said in a press release.
