George Arthur Jensen

George Arthur Jensen, 87, of Bermuda Run passed away on Sept. 20, 2024, with family members by his side. George was born on April 25, 1937, to Arthur and Lily Jensen, and was raised in Warwick, Rhode Island. George attended Gorton High School, graduating in 1955. He then studied civil engineering at Brown University and Northeastern University, graduating in 1964. This led to an exceptional career as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and an engineer in the Federal Highway Administration. George retired as a division administrator in 1995 after 31 years of service. George met Sonja Lindergreen in 1957 while they worked summer jobs at The Pines, a Cape Cod resort. They married in 1959, and had two sons, Jeff and Steve. During their 65 wonderful years together, they lived in Germany and 13 different states, to include many years in Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, North Dakota, Florida and North Carolina. Faith and family always came first for George. He shared his love for baseball, golf, sailing, camping, handywork and other passions with his wife and sons. He also freely volunteered his time and talent to anyone in need, from friends, to neighbors, to veterans, to the homeless, to the church. George was a lifelong fan of every Boston sports team, especially the Red Sox. George was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Lily, and his sister, Pat Strand (Bill). George is survived by his wife, Sonja; his sons, Jeff (Maria) and Steve (Xan); and his grandchildren, Joanna, Zack, Colby and Delaney. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.  Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at Clemmons Presbyterian Church. Pastor Troy Lesher-Thomas will officiate. A reception will be held in the living room at Bermuda Village from 2-4 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
