Eleanor Ann Gagnon

Eleanor Ann Gagnon, 90, passed away peacefully on Sept. 3, 2024, in Winston-Salem. Eleanor was born in Rhode Island and was a longtime Clemmons resident before moving to Winston-Salem last year. 

She is survived by her children, Diane, Paul (Lynette) and Ed (Alicia). Eleanor was devoted to her grandchildren, Emma and Alex, and her two step-grandchildren, Ethan and Scotlyn. Left to cherish her memory is Eleanor’s dear sister, Dottie, her best friend, Flora, nephews and nieces, and numerous extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, of 51 years, and five of her siblings Evelyn, Pat, Bob, Fred and Ann.  

She will be remembered for her kindness, humor, strength and love for those around her. Eleanor will also be remembered as a great cook. “Mama” especially enjoyed cooking with her grandchildren, making her special beef soup, lasagna and many other goodies. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

A funeral mass will be held on Oct. 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her memory be sent to a cancer charity or to her church, Holy Family Catholic Church, PO Box 130, Clemmons, NC 27012.
