The clear choice

Amy Taylor North is the clear choice for representative for N.C. House District 74. Here are just six of the large number of reasons to elect Amy Taylor North to represent District 74 in the North Carolina House.

1. Unlike her opponent, Amy North has not extorted $2 million from constituents with the threat of lawsuits because a zoning decision didn’t go the desired way.

2. Unlike her opponent, Amy North did not employ very questionable “dirty tricks” and bogus charges in failed attempts to try and disqualify other candidates.

3. Unlike her opponent, Amy North is committed to spending public funds to pay for public education. Her opponent repeatedly votes to divert taxed, public funds to bankroll elite, private schools. In this session alone, he voted to divert $458 million of taxpayer money to fund exclusive, private schools.

4. Unlike her opponent, Amy North is committed to empowering “local decision making.” Her opponent routinely sponsors and votes for legislation designed to strip away local governments’ ability to perform the essential functions of zoning, planning and holding local elections as required by North Carolina statute. (See House Bill 537, House Bill 562, and House Bill 10 for just 3 examples).

5. Unlike her opponent, Amy North is not a party automaton. She forcefully demonstrates the willingness and ability to set aside “party guidance” and evaluate every issue and legislative proposal on its own merits and its likely impact on the residents and businesses she represents.

6. Unlike her opponent, Amy North is not politically beholden to deep pocket special interests. And, unlike her opponent, she will not craft and advance legislation designed to generate profit for her political backers and campaign contributors.

The choice for District 74 representative is clear. We must not return an incumbent who repeatedly demonstrates disdain and disregard for his constituents. We need a representative who has proven they will hear all of our priorities and concerns, who will carefully and thoughtfully weigh all positions, and is committed to acting on them in a way that does the greatest good for the greatest number of us — for all of us. That representative is Amy Taylor North.
