PFAFFTOWN — Vienna Fire Chief Tim Lasley, who has ties to Lewisville recently received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

I am writing to recommend Vienna Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Timothy Lasley for the North Carolina Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award,” Clemmons Fire Chief Gary Styers wrote in a recommendation for Lasley. “For over 30 years now, as a county firefighter, the Forsyth County fire marshal, and now fire chief of the Clemmons Fire Department, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand Chief Lasley’s outstanding contributions and dedication to his community.”

Lasley’s community engagement is extensive. According to a biography from Rep. Jeff Zenger, in addition to serving on the Lewisville Public Safety Committee, Lasley is “always there to lend a hand in various community activities throughout the year which includes helping organize a canned food drive in partnership with WXII and Second Harvest Food Bank each year at Vienna Fire Department.”

Other areas where Lasley is active in the community are as a Gideon member, church trustee at Brookstown United Methodist Church, chairman of the Brookstown Church Council, chairman of Safe Sanctuaries Committee at Brookstown United Methodist Church, Vienna Civic Club member, Church Mission Outreach participant and organizer of Red Cross blood drives bi-monthly at Brookstown United Methodist Church.

Chief Lasley exemplifies the values and spirit of North Carolina through his passion for service and tireless commitment to serving others through service with his local church, Boy Scouts, and of course with the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department,” Styers said in his recommendation. “In his pursuit of serving others, I have seen Chief Lasley’s passion and the profound and lasting impacts on the lives of countless individuals across our county and in Chief Lasley’s community

“One of Chief Lasley’s most remarkable traits in service is his abilities as a teacher which translates into inspiring others to learn their skill set for better community service. Whether it is with guiding new firefighters or continuing the education of seasoned firefighters, Chief Lasley consistently demonstrates his exceptional leadership, integrity, and compassion for imparting knowledge to others so that they can better serve their communities.”

Zenger added, “Between the fire department and all his community activities, Tim Lasley serves about 2,000 hours each year. Lasley is not only leaving a lasting impression on the Pfafftown area, but also a significant impact on the area’s youth. As a first responder, Lasley already consistently places others before himself daily; but he chooses to serve the community continually with various multiple activities daily.

“Tim’s career has been long and fruitful, and his leadership honorable. He was influential in the lives of all ages. His remarkable contributions to the community embody the spirit of the Long Leaf Pine. Mr. Lasley is an inspiration to all the lives he comes in contact within Forsyth County.”
