The Lewisville Historical Society inducted new officers – Merrikay Brown, president; Ken Hutchens, vice-president; Margaret Boggs, secretary; Mary Gaines, assistant secretary and Dare Reich, treasurer.

Four candidates filed for the Lewisville Town Council. Those included were: Lynn Thrower, Jane Welch, Neil McBride and Dan Jennings.

The Southwest Forsyth Little League Majors were 1-1 in district debut. They lost to Thomasville with a score of 3-1 but won against Alamance 10-2.

Strong individual efforts by Brad Willard, Brooke Willard and Greg Wright propelled the Clemmons West Aqua Demons to a second-place finish in the Winston-Salem swim team championships at Winston-Salem State University.

The Waterford Stingray swim team was defeated for the first time in two years by losing to Peacehaven 443-345.

Eva Smith was the winner in the low gross tournament for the Tanglewood Ladies Golf Association’s nine-hole group. Marilyn Rieker was second and Shirley Atkinson was third.

Kay Hawkins, a Clemmons resident, was elected president-elect to the NC Dental Assistants Association. She and Judy Crews, of Pfafftown, represented the NC Dental Assistants Association at the American Dental Assistants Association meeting in Seattle, Washington.

Incumbent Mayor Patricia M. Sheppard, of Clemmons, filed her candidacy to seek a third two-year term as Clemmons Mayor.

1^st Sgt. Raymond Lanier, of Clemmons, returned home from Saudi Arabia and Operation Desert Storm, where he had been stationed since last November. A community-wide celebration was held at Clemmons Center on Lewisville-Clemmons Road.

There was a grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Tanglewood Academy of Music in Clemmons.

Polly Caudle, of Clemmons, won honorable mention in the Hardee’s Big Click Color Photo Contest.

Karrie Ann Brenneman, daughter of Barbara J. and Richard L. Brenneman of Clemmons, was awarded a D.V.M. degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine during commencement ceremonies held at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.
