Five West Forsyth athletes sign to play in college

Christmas came early for five athletes at West Forsyth on Wednesday morning in the auditorium.
The athletes – Jacari Brim of boys basketball, Justin Ferguson and Jalen Morris of football, Grant Lamoureux of boys volleyball, and Logan Garrison of boys golf all signed their National Letters of Intent to play their respective sports in college starting in the 2025-26 school year.
Brim, the son of Head Coach Marlon Brim of the Titans’ boys basketball team, signed to play at Appalachian State. Jacari, a 6-foot-2 guard, was Player of the Year last season as a junior in the Central Piedmont 4-A after helping lead the Titans to a 20-8 season overall and 10-4 in the Central Piedmont 4-A. Jacari’s mother is KIm Brim.
According to MaxPreps.com, Jacari averaged 19.2 points per game last season, 4.2 rebounds per game, as well as 6.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
Two football players signed on Wednesday. Coached by Kevin Wallace, Ferguson and Morris helped West Forsyth to an overall record of 8-4 this past season and 5-2 in the Central Piedmont 4-A. West Forsyth also reached the second round of the NCHSAA Class 4-A playoffs, losing to rival East Forsyth.
Ferguson, the son of Lawrence Ferguson, who is an assistant coach on the football team, and mother Selana Ferguson, signed to play at Mercer University. Justin is a defensive back who was recently named All-Defensive Central Piedmont 4-A. According to MaxPreps.com, had 14 solo tackles and assisted on 10 others.
Morris, an offensive lineman, who was recently named All-Offensive Central Piedmont 4-A, signed to play at N.C. Central. Morris is the son of Shane Morris and Deborah Orr.
Lamoureux, who is a 6-10 outside hitter, signed to play volleyball at Pepperdine. Lamoureux who finished his junior season as a 6-foot-10 outside hitter and a co-captain on the West Forsyth boys indoor volleyball team with Coach Patrick Shugart even though boys indoor volleyball isn’t sanctioned in North Carolina. Lamoureux has also played on the beach volleyball team for West Forsyth.
In addition, Lamoureux, according to pepperdinewaves.com, was the captain for the U19 Men’s National Indoor Team this past summer Norceca Continental Championship and helped the team win the gold medal. Upon winning the gold medal, he was awarded Best Spiker.
Lamoureux, the son of Dave and Michelle Lamoureux, is also a two-time AAU All American. In beach volleyball, Lamoureux helped his two-man beach team win the state championship his sophomore year at West Forsyth with Hayden Lichty, his team finished ninth this past summer in the 2024 Beach U19 World Championships.
Garrison, formerly coached by Kevin King and now by Debra Troxell, signed to play golf at Post University. Garrison, according to ncsasports.org, is 5-10, 155- pound left-hander and has a 2.9 handicap. His 18-hole average is 74 and his tournament-scoring average is 77.
