LEWISVILLE — The N.C. Department of Transportation is announcing that the Shallowford Road bridge over U.S. 421 will be closed long-term due to damage caused by a crash on Friday.

The closure is necessary for safety. NCDOT crews will assess the extent of the damage and begin repairs as soon as possible.

Detour Information:

• Traveling east on Shallowford Road: Motorists will take U.S. 421 South towards Winston-Salem, exit at Williams Road (Exit 246) and then take U.S. 421 North.
• Traveling west on Shallowford Road: Motorists will take U.S. 421 North towards Yadkinville, exit at Dinkins Bottom Road (Exit 249) and then take U.S. 421 South.

Motorists are advised to use caution and follow posted detour signs while traveling through the area.
