Couriering the area this week in 1966 – Carolyn Tesh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tesh of Clemmons, was among three students who were honored at promotion exercises as outstanding students from Rowan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

Nannette Minor, of Charlotte and niece of Clemmons residents of Mr. and Mrs. G. Y. Minor, was crowned Miss North Carolina of 1967.

Airman Philip W. Tilley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert S. Tilley of Lewisville, was assigned to L. G. Hanscom Field, Massachusetts after completing Air Force basic training.

After winning the state title by defeating Rutherfordton, 8-6, and defeating North Dekalb, Georgia, 8-3 in the Little League Senior Divisional Tournament in Toccoa, Georgia, Southwest Forsyth bowed to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 4-3.

Oren Heffner, of Mocksville, was elected to the board of directors of the North Carolina Food Dealers Association. He was installed at the convention held in Asheville.

Sue Tesh was awarded a certificate as a graduate practical nurse from Forsyth Technical Institute.

Airman Dewey L. Kiger, son of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Kiger, of Lewisville, was selected for technical training at Amarillo AFB, Texas as a U. S. Air Force aircraft maintenance specialist.

Marine Private Edward S. Wall, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Coleman of Clemmons, attended the Aviation Ordance School at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida.

Charles Robert Redden, of Clemmons, was among 64 students that graduated during summer commencement exercises.

Vince Rabil, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest J. Rabil of Clemmons, was “tapped” for the Order of the Arrow, one of the highest honors that can come to a Scout.

Airman Lawrence K. Hartman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Hartman, of Clemmons, was selected for technical training at Chanute AFB, Illinois as a U. S. Air Force aircraft equipment repairman.

Airman Third Class Norman K. Denny, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Crouse of Clemmons, graduated at Sheppard AFB, Texas from the training course for U. S. Air Force aircraft mechanics.

The junior varsity cheerleaders for West Forsyth High School for 1966-1967 were: Susan Lilly (chief), Mary Wackerhagen, Ginny Iobst, Trimella Wooten, Debbie Day, Karen Myers and Becks Gobble. Pam Simpson was an alternate.

Boy Scout Troop 736, of Clemmons, returned after spending a week at Camp Raven Knob Scout Reservation.
