Kudos to the Clemmons Village Council (sarcasm intended) for their continued mismanagement of development in Clemmons.

We are now watching one of the tallest buildings in Clemmons — the 4-story eyesore that is a storage facility — being built at the once-historic intersection of Clemmons and Lewisville-Clemmons roads, and the recent failed attempt to stop a dangerous cement plant from coming near the Peppertree neighborhood. This has followed the planned huge development just outside the city limits off Idols Road and the wasting of millions of dollars (residents’ tax money) on litigation settlements over development near Kinnamon Village and the billboard across from Wells Fargo — all because of poorly written zoning ordinances. One of the major end-results of all this mismanagement is the awful traffic that clogs all the roads of Clemmons — that will only get worse.

The city council (it’s not a “village” anymore) has had almost 40 years to protect Clemmons residents’ interests by annexing property to provide a buffer so as to control the size and nature of development, They could also have revised zoning ordinances, so that developers can’t creatively interpret the poor ordinances for their interests (not those of existing residents). We are tired of this! We are afraid to drive in Clemmons! We need council members who will act in the best interests of residents and protect against all this unwanted and uncontrolled growth.
