Adrian Snow doesn’t stand behind the pulpit but he does like to preach.

The title of his favorite sermon is simple and direct — “Every game matters.”

As an experienced high school football coach, he knows all too well that there is no such thing as a sure thing. He reminds his team of that every chance he gets.

“Yeah, we hear that from him all the time,” explained Titan senior defensive lineman Quintin Brinkley, following a team workout on Monday afternoon. “But we understand why he emphasizes it. Any opponent can beat you if you don’t prepare. We make sure that we never look past anyone.”

That was certainly the case last Friday in a 39-0 win over hapless Reynolds.

It will also be the case this Friday night when the Titans travel to Davie County. The War Eagles are just 2-5 overall but, due to the revised 2013 Central Piedmont football schedule, will have the rare luxury of hosting a longtime rival for the second year in a row. The Eagles will also be playing for revenge. They were upset by the Titans last season.

“They are looking to get back on track and what better way to do that than to beat West Forsyth,” Snow pointed out. “But to us, they’re the top team in the state right now. That’s how we are approaching this game.”

Asked about returning to Mocksville for the second year in row, Snow said it’s just another obstacle the Titans will have to overcome.

“I hate to play at their place anytime and I certainly don’t like having to go over there two years in a row. But it’s a great atmosphere to play in.”

Brinkley agreed and acknowledged that the boost the Titans get from their strong fan following — especially the “Simpson Psychos” student fan section, — is significant.

“This is another away game but it really doesn’t matter to us,” he said. “We have great fans and we know that they’ll be there to support us. Our student section is outstanding.”

The West stands were certainly full of loyal Titan followers last Friday night as the school celebrated its 50th homecoming. The added support was nice but not necessary as the Titans controlled the action from the outset. A 20-0 West lead midway into the first quarter set the tone and had the Demons reeling as they went on to suffer their seventh loss of the season.
