Jerry Don Brinegar

Mr. Jerry Don Brinegar, Sr., 81, of Lewisville, went home to his Savior and friend Jesus Christ on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018. He was born Dec. 25, 1936, in Forsyth County to Mayme Dowell Brinegar and Don Orton Brinegar. Mr. Brinegar was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. He retired from Time Warner Cable and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Tuttle Brinegar. Surviving are his daughter, Teri Brinegar; his son, Jerry Don “Donnie” Brinegar, Jr. (Tanya); four grandchildren, Meredith Summey (Scott), Matthew Brinegar, Alyssa Emerson and Alie Brinegar; one sister, Vicki Brinegar VanBuren and four nephews, Craig, Brett, Scott and Derek Jones. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Forsyth Memorial Park with Dr. Guy Hipp officiating. A memorial service followed at 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Robert E. Johnson

Mr. Robert E. Johnson, Jr., 64, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Robert was born on Oct. 29, 1954, to Robert E. Johnson, Sr. and Dorothy Ross Johnson in Roanoke, Va. He attended Rome High School in Georgia and eventually moved to Winston-Salem with his family where he graduated from West Forsyth High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force where he received his postgraduate education. Robert retired from Duke Power after 40 years of service as an engineer. Robert was one of the founding members of Sunrise United Methodist Church in Lewisville and participated in many mission trips with the church. He was a former member of the town Zoning Committee and was a candidate for Town Council. He also enjoyed working with his CB radio collection and fishing trips to the beach. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving family includes his two sons: Joshua Johnson of Kernersville and Andrew Johnson (Paige) of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Taylor and Avery Johnson; one sister, Karen Lord (Jimmy); one niece, Melissa Lord; two brothers, Todd (Tammy) and Kevin Johnson; and two nephews, Blake and Dylan Johnson. A celebration of life gathering was held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Lewisville Chapel, with military funeral honors provided by the Air Force Honor Guard at 5 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel is assisting the family.

 

Rebecca Thompson Bobbitt

Thompson Bobbitt, 56, of Clemmons, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018. She lived her life to the glory of God. Rebecca was a devoted wife to her husband, and loving mother to their two children. In every day, she strived to help others be their personal best. She loved teaching and working with children in the Clemmons Middle School library. Her enthusiasm overflowed in everything she did, from playing the spoons, to riding waves at the beach, to hiking in the mountains. Rebecca was passionate about helping to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. She led Caroline’s Crusaders for the last decade to help raise awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She brought a beaming smile to every mile she walked and every conversation she had to help in this effort. Her determination was unwavering. She loved being out in nature, especially at Camp Raven Knob, where she met her husband Keith decades ago. From Wednesday night campfires to hiking the trails with her children, the camp was a part of who she was. Rebecca had a deep faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She let her faith shine in everything she undertook. Her life as a Christian helped her to be a blessing to so many others. Her grace and understanding were ever-present. Rebecca is survived by her husband, Keith; son, William and wife Dayna; and daughter, Caroline. She is also survived by her father, Phillip Thompson; sister, Deborah Rogers and husband Robert, and their son Landon. Also surviving is her brother, Tom Thompson and wife Rhonda; grandmother, Sylvia Eidson; and mother-in-law, Patsy Bobbitt. She is preceded in death by her mother, Linda Thompson; grandparents, Tom and Ruby Eidson; grandparents, Donald and Nellie Thompson; and father-in-law, Royce Bobbitt. A memorial service to celebrate Rebecca’s life was held on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Clemmons United Methodist Church. The service began at 2 p.m. with a reception in the church fellowship hall. Shannon Lora Honeycutt

Shannon Lora Honeycutt, age 60, passed away with her family by her side at her home in Lewisville on Oct. 30, 2018. She was born in Winston-Salem to Charles Southern and Barbara Southern on Oct. 21, 1958. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rockne Honeycutt; brother and sister-in-law, Landon and Melody Southern; parents, Charles and Barbara Southern; three children, Jade Sheets, Brittany McCrann (Brendan) and Gerin Honeycutt (Kelsey); four grandchildren, Jace and Raely York, Charlee Honeycutt, and Declan McCrann; aunts, Mary Nell Wall, Barbara Gray, and Bonnie Booe; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Shannon, beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend has left a lasting impact on this community. Her joy and passion for her faith, family, and friends were demonstrated throughout her life as she gave of herself to ensure others were taken care of and that they felt loved and appreciated. Shannon loved the beach, swimming, dancing, singing, laughing and talking with family or friends for hours. Her life’s passion was to pour her love into others, and especially little children as they grew and developed. She believed that children were being shaped and molded in each moment and that it was our greatest task to ensure they were taught to love and to enjoy their childhood. A special thanks to friends from Shannon’s neighborhood, Lewisville United Methodist Preschool Church, and Old Town Baptist Church who made it possible for Shannon to live at home until she joined her Lord and Savior in heaven. The family also extends their gratitude to Dr. William Baker, and the rest of the staff at the Derrick L. Davis Regional Cancer Center, as well as the staff at Trellis Supportive Care. It was her wish to make sure a word of thanks was expressed to those who surrounded her as she battled ovarian cancer. A visitation with the family was held on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Old Town Baptist Church in Winston-Salem at 1 p.m. The visitation was followed by a celebration of life service at 2:30 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to either Lewisville United Methodist Preschool or Old Town Baptist Church.
