With the occurrence of yet another weather-related delay, high school exams were extended, meaning the last day of exams happened Monday, Jan. 28. Students are now settling into their second semester classes and looking toward next year, as class registration for returning students will open soon. In the meantime, here’s what’s happening at West this week.

The administration will be taking a group of 50 seniors and juniors to the CIAA high school day on Feb. 27 in Charlotte. The event features representatives from 13 different colleges and universities who will be able to accept students on site as well as give out scholarships. In order to go, prospective students must attend an informational meeting today in the media center. If you have any questions concerning the event, please contact Mr. White.

All athletic eligibility paperwork for the spring sports season must be turned in by Feb. 1 at 3:40 p.m. First-time athletes must also submit a photocopy of their birth certificate. In order to attend tryouts, each athlete must pick up their wristband on the assigned date. Visit the West Forsyth website to see which days wristbands are offered.

Wake Forest Baptist Health will hold their summer “Volunteen” program this year. Participants get the opportunity to serve at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and meet people from around the Triad. It is open to all students ages 14-18, and applicants must submit completed materials by Friday, March 8. To learn more about this service opportunity, see Mrs. Hayes in the 500 building.
