Greg Christopher Carnes 

April 21, 1965-June 16, 2014 

Mr. Greg Christopher Carnes, 49, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014. He was born in Davenport, Iowa on April 21, 1965, to Dr. DuWayne and Bonnie Bakkum Carnes. Greg grew up in an educational family. He married the love of his life and his anchor, Janice on October 5, 1996. Greg was “adopted and enveloped” by her extended North Carolina family and the wonderful Our Lady of Mercy friends. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, “friendly” poker player, and a dedicated friend. He was well-named because he was a “gregarious” person loved by all-great and small. Preceding him in death was a brother, Douglas William Carnes. Surviving is his wife, Janice; two daughters, Lindsay and Morgan, of whom he was especially proud; also surviving are his parents. A memorial service was held Friday, June 20, 2014, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with Friar Bill Robinson officiating.
