Harold David Parker

May 17, 1941 – Oct. 9, 2015

Mr. Harold David Parker, 74, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at his home after a period of declining health under the care of Kate B Reynolds Hospice. He was born on May 17, 1941 in Yadkin County to the late Henry Bonson and Grace Durham Parker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Renegar Parker, his parents, and his brother, Charles Dean Parker. Harold graduated from Southwest High School in Clemmons, NC. He was a retired machine operator from R J Reynolds Tobacco Company after 40 years of service who contributed to the growth of the company with his many suggestions and ideas. He came up with the names of seven cigarette brands; the “Pride In Tobacco” logo; various machine parts; the creation of the RJR Souvenir Shop; and was responsible for getting Andy Granatelli of STP Motor Oil Company and RJR together to cosponsor NASCAR Racing which Reynolds bought out a year later to form Winston Cup Racing just to name a few. He was a former member of the Clemmons Jaycees and a long time, faithful follower at Center Grove Baptist Church. He had many interests, was a devoted husband and father, and loved the Lord. Surviving are his loving children Barry Parker of Pfafftown, NC; Julia Parker-Summers and husband Kelly of Winston-Salem, NC; Shane Parker of Clemmons, NC; his only grandson, Matthew Summers of Winston-Salem, NC; and his siblings, Bobby Parker and wife Angela of Lexington, NC; Barbara Lawson and husband Terry of Advance, NC; Shirley Griffin of Advance, NC; sister-in-law, Dorothy Parker of Winston-Salem, NC and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home on Middlebrook Drive in Clemmons, NC with Pastor Ron Schuyler officiating. The family will receive friends for a Visitation one hour prior to the service. Mr. Parker will then be laid to rest at Weslawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC with a graveside service to follow. Sheila Benedict QUINN

ADVANCE — Mrs. Sheila Benedict Quinn, 64, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 10, 2015. She was born in Ontario, Canada on November 29, 1950 to Percy and Marie Benedict. Mrs. Quinn retired in Nursing with over 30 years of service. She was a member of Clemmons Moravian Church and was very proud of her Canadian citizenship. Mrs. Quinn loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and was very proud of her three children and she always had a special place in her heart for her pets. Preceding her in death was her father, Percy Benedict. Surviving is her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Barry Quinn; daughter, Shannon Quinn Kimel; son, Justin Quinn and wife, Amanda; daughter, Ashley Nicole Vaught and husband, John; four precious grandchildren, Heather Kimel, Sage Vaught, Bayden Quinn, and Gunter Quinn; two sisters, Cheryl Will and husband, Burvell and Gloria Jung; sister-in-law, Jeanette Mellish and husband, Gordon; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held at Clemmons Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Q. Ray Burke officiating. Raymond Lee Plemmons Oct. 13, 1931 – Oct. 10, 2015 Raymond Lee Plemmons, 83, of Lewisville, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Regency Care of Clemmons. Mr. Plemmons was born October 13, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late Crawford and Pearl Holston Plemmons. Raymond served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Lewisville Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Hutchens Plemmons. Surviving are two sons, Ronnie Ray Plemmons and wife Rhonda of Clemmons and Johnny Lee Plemmons of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Misty, Laura Michelle, Stephanie, Christopher and Jonathan and four great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Christian Plemmons and ArththurRay and Raylee Walker; one sister, Virginia French and Raymonds first cousin and longtime and devoted caregiver, Jim Plemmons. A funeral service was conducted at Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Lewisville Baptist Church by Dr. George Smith. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Nancy Tattersall Foster

2/14/1934 – 10/8/2015

Mrs. Nancy Tattersall Foster, 81, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Foster was born on February 14, 1934, in Rhode Island to the late Frederick Slate Tattersall and Dorothy Hale Tattersall. She graduated from Hanes High School in 1952 and attended Bryant Business College. Nancy worked as a bowling instructor at Major League Lanes as well as an administrative assistant at multiple businesses. She was a member of Clemmons Moravian Church before transferring her membership to Friedberg Moravian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garner Roosevelt Foster and a sister, Barbara Jean Tattersall. Mrs. Foster is survived by a daughter, Cathy Manson of Mocksville, NC; two sons, Butch Baxter (Monica) of Greensboro, NC and Rick Baxter (Lynn) of Lewisville, NC; three grandchildren, Collin Dean Baxter, Chris Alan Baxter and Ryan Parker Manson; and numerous other loving relatives in Massachusetts. A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Susan Morris officiating. Katheryn Joyce “Kathy” Nelson July 20, 1948 – October 8, 2015 Mrs. Katheryn Joyce “Kathy” Nelson, 67, passed away at her home on October 8, 2015. She was born on July 20, 1948 to Wendell and Margie McClendon in Neosho, MO. Kathy attended Meadowview Baptist Church. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a good friend to all. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her in-laws, Clifford and Fallie Nelson. Surviving are her loving husband of 48 years, James Nelson; son, Matthew Nelson (Tracy); daughter, Renea Richardson (Larry); grandchildren, Taylor, Logan, Garret, Matthew, Zane, and Victoria Richardson, and Kayla Nelson; brothers, Ed, Rob, and Paul McClendon; sisters, Bonnie Adams, and Barbara Spinks; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Monday, October 12, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Robert Hutchens officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.

Tonya Young

01/31/1956 – 10/07/2015

Mrs. Tonya Young, 59, of Creek Ridge Drive, Lexington passed away Wednesday morning at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem after a two year battle with cancer. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 pm Friday, October 16, 2015 at Clemmons First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Robby Phillips officiating. The family will greet friends in the Family Life Center, following the service. Tonya was born in Forsyth County, January 31, 1956 to E.C. and Mae Petit Reavis. Tonya was a member of Clemmons First Baptist Church and the Genesis Sunday School Class. After high school, Tonya Graduated from St. Andrews College in 1978 and received her MBA from Wake Forest University in 1990; she was a retired employee of RJR as a Quality Control Manager. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband, Gene Young of the home; sister, Sharon Sparks of Mecklenburg County; step-mother, Sue Tesh Reavis of Clemmons; step-brothers, Randy and Gary Tesh of Davie County and Eric Tesh of Tobaccoville and many friends from church, that she loved. Bobbie Jean Largen Sapp

September 10, 1942 – September 24, 2015

Bobbie Jean Largen Sapp, passed away on September 24, 2015. She died peacefully surrounded by her son, daughter and husband. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Ernest Sapp, son Shannon Sapp (Tricia), and daughter Kelly Sapp (Bennett Pransky), four beautiful grandchildren, her brother Jerry Largen, two aunts Mrs. Helen Hall and Mrs. Margaret Stone and a large number of very close friends who were like family to her. She was preceded in death by her parents Loman H. and Ruth E. Largen, a sister Barbara June, and a grandson. In lieu of flowers, the family respectively request any donations in honor of her memory go to Laurel Ridge Moravian Camp, Conference and Retreat Center or the charity of their choice. Margaret Rosemary Smith Todd Aug. 19, 1943 – Oct. 7, 2015 Mrs. Margaret Rosemary Smith Todd, 72, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 19, 1943 in Forsyth County to the late Alec and Pattie Canter Smith. Mrs. Todd grew up attending Immanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and making hand crafts. Mrs. Todd loved her family dearly and would always cook for them every Sunday. Preceding her in death were four brothers and two sisters. Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Linville Todd; four children, Derek Todd and wife, Paige, Scottie Todd, Amy Todd Russell and husband, Allen, and Doug Todd and wife, April; her loving grandchildren who called her, “Nana,” Drew Todd and wife Kristin, Allie Rose, Britt Ziglar and husband, Seth, Alex Russell, and Garret Todd; two great-grandchildren, Bry Bry and Alice; two sisters, Joann McKee and Mary Jean Rothrock and husband, Joe; also surviving are several nieces and nephews and her very special friends, Van and Amy Swink. Gerald “Geri” Brown Lyons

June 24, 1938 – October 4, 2015

Gerald “Geri” Brown Lyons, 77, went to be with her Lord on October 4, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. She was born June 24, 1938 in Forsyth County to the late Fred T. and Joyce P. Brown. Geri was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and was Senior Regent in 2005 and 2006. Geri retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She is survived by her two sons, Tommy Lyons (Tammy) and Tony Lyons (Dana); two sisters, Carell Kiger (Ralph) and Kim Cooper (Donnie); three brothers, Barry Brown, Sr. (Shirley), Jerry Brown (Janice), and Terry Brown. Kim and her family were special to Geri. Kim was like a daughter and her kids like grandchildren. They called her “Gamma”. Her special niece was Dru Stebbins and her daughter Layla. Her special nephews, Alex and Cole (Danielle) Stebbins. She had several other nephews who also loved her dearly and friends too numerous to count. Geri will always be remembered for her sunny disposition and loving spirit. She was a great cook and loved sharing with others. Thanks to all who helped Geri through her illness. The family had a private service on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, followed by a visitation .A funeral service was held in the chapel with the Rev. Barry R. Brown, Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Grapevine Baptist Church in Lewisville.
