Patsy Talbert Haga

Mrs. Patsy Talbert Haga, 87, passed away on Nov. 15, 2019, at Arbor Acres Retirement Community, with family by her side. She was born on March 10, 1932, to Herbert Sydney Talbert and Hettie Ragsdale Talbert in Santa Paula, California. Patsy was an active member of Hope Moravian Church where she spent much time alongside her husband, mother, and other family members. She played euphonium in the church band (as well as community bands), led and participated in women’s fellowship and Sunday school, and engaged in countless other church activities. For many years, she helped manage the family business, Echo Bluff MHP. Patsy, who grew up on a dairy farm, loved animals of all types, children, flowers, music, painting and crafts. In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Edford Haga. Surviving are her three children, Marty Haga (Vickie) of Boonville, Lynn Haga of Winston-Salem, and Cindy Turner (Wilbur) of Garner; six grandchildren, Amy, Julie, Jessica, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Caleb; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Hope Moravian Church with Patsy’s cherished pastor, Rev. David Merritt, officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 2 p.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Hope Moravian Church; flowers are also welcome. The family gives thanks to all of Patsy’s friends from church and beyond, to her dear caregiver and friend, Sybil, and to many caregivers from Arbor Acres and Trellis. Jimmy ‘Jim’ Plemmons

Mr. Jimmy “Jim” Plemmons, 85, of Clemmons passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 19, 1934, in Forsyth County to Grover Cleveland and Thelma Simpson Plemmons. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Stack. Surviving is his wife, Brenda Plemmons of the home; a son, Chris Plemmons of Clemmons; two daughters, Torri Plemmons of Clemmons and Amanda Plemmons of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a step-son, Aaron Fender (Allison) of Mocksville; step-daughter, Leslie Fender of Clemmons; a brother, Don Plemmons of Winston-Salem; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece and nephews.

As a young man, Jim was an avid softball player and played in local leagues for various teams, including Piedmont Airlines, McLean Trucking, Whitney Furniture, and City Beverage. A four-time state champion and three-time All State player, he was inducted into the N.C. Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2007. Jim spent the majority of his career at Piedmont Airlines, retiring in 1989 after 31 years of service. He was proud to be a part of the company and enjoyed reminiscing with colleagues and telling stories about the old days. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Pastor Jason Holley officiating. Burial followed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Meadows Baptist Church in Farmington or Kate B. Cornelia Allen Stiles

Mrs. Cornelia Allen Stiles, 84, of Clemmons, passed away on Nov. 15, 2019, after a prolonged battle with COPD. She had resided at Bermuda Village in Bermuda Run for the past five years. Ms. Stiles was born on Jan. 8, 1935, in Davie County to Joe Loughton and Margaret Griffith Allen. She was a fan of Elvis Presley since they shared the same birthday. Cornelia was the owner and manager of Allen’s Cove Properties in Clemmons and an avid golfer. Preceding her in death was her husband, Louis D. Stiles and a sister, Betty Allen Vogler. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Pamela Ridings and a grandson and wife, Benjamin and Allison Ridings. She is also survived by nephew and wife, Keith and Becky Vogler, step-children Pam Stiles Cass, Kenneth Stiles, and Dianne Stiles. A private graveside ceremony was held at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at Hayworth Miller Kinderton Chapel.
