Clarence Steve Beauchamp
Mr. Clarence Steve Beauchamp, 90, of Lewisville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born June 10, 1929, in Forsyth County to the late John and Sally Phelps Beauchamp. Beauchamp served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He is preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Beauchamp. Surviving is his wife, Jean Beauchamp; one son, Steve Beauchamp (Becky); three grandchildren, Richard Beauchamp (Suzanne), Wesley Beauchamp (Toni) and Hannah Hinds (Tom); five great-grandchildren, Liam, Abby, Aidyn, Griffin and MacKenzie and one sister, Bernice Mabe (Conrad). A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Sharon United Methodist Church in Lewisville by Rev. Greg Freeman. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church or to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Edward Hugh Brown
Mr. Edward Hugh Brown, 77, of Advance, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, at his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Mooresville to Paul Montgomery and Pauline Knox Brown. Brown served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He received an Air Force Commendation Medal for outstanding achievement by participating in the defense of the Bien Hoa Air Base during a mortar attack on Nov. 1, 1964. He retired from Continental Tire with 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Eakin Brown; a daughter, Deborah B. Mace (Skip); grandson, Will Mace and two brothers, Robert W. Brown (Clara) and Dr. Paul E. Brown (Patricia). The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Betty Jean Swaim Burton
Mrs. Betty Jean Swaim Burton, 78, of Advance, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at her home. She was born Jan. 12, 1942, in Yadkin County to Ann Rachel Swaim and Lester Swaim. Burton was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. Burton was preceded in death by her husband, James Larry Burton and two brothers, Tommy and Robert Swaim. Surviving are her daughter, Pam Eagle (Dean); two stepsons, Jimmy Burton (Robin) and David Burton (Sandra); six grandchildren, Heather Oakley, David Oakley III, (Reva), Brandon Oakley, Beth Renegar, C.J. Carson and Austin Burton; two great-grandchildren, Nadelie Jones and Landon Oakley; one sister, Joan Russell (James); one brother, Charles Swaim (Brenda) and a special friend, Jack Walker. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Dr. Chuck Baker officiating. The family received friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church or to Trellis of Davie County.\
Michael Todd Hepler
Michael Todd Hepler went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Feb. 12, 2020, at the age of 53. He was born on April 25, 1966, to the late Gray Hepler and Bobbie Hepler. He lived most of his life in Lewisville. Mike was a graduate of West Forsyth High School and attended Forsyth Technical Community College where he studied horticulture and landscape design. Mike enjoyed a successful career project managing both retail and landscape companies. He most recently worked for Sides Seeding and Sod.
Mike’s greatest passions were his love for his family and for the Lord Jesus Christ. He was an active member of Pinedale Christian Church where he worshiped and served faithfully. Mike had a love for all people and this was reflected in all the many ways that he served. He led, taught and influenced others in children’s ministries, discipleship, mission trips, church leadership, and prison ministries.
Time spent with his family was his greatest joy. He loved spending time at the beach, fishing with his son Grayson, watching movies and going on dinner dates with his daughter Madison, and doing life with his soulmate Becky. All of his extended family were blessed by his loving heart, gracious care and generosity.
Mike is survived by his wife Becky Hepler, daughter Madison and son Grayson both of the home. He is also survived by brother Steve Hepler (Susie) of Asheville, as well as his mother Bobbie Hepler of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
Services for Mike were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, at Pinedale Christian Church. Visitation with the family followed immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to be made to Prison Ministry, a mission close to Mike’s heart. Ronald Leonard Hoth
Ronald Leonard Hoth, 82, of Bermuda Run, went to our Lord peacefully on Feb. 8, 2020, at Trinity Elms Health and Rehab. A funeral mass was held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, with Fr. Michael Buttner presiding. Followed by a reception at the parish center. Ron was born on March 15, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his parents Phoebe and Reinhold and a sister, Patricia Mary (Patty Mae). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Meloy Hoth; five children, Patricia Mary of Hillsborough, Mary Ann Plante (Joe) of Summerfield, Michael William (Diane) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Karen Marie Pickles (Mike) of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and Thomas Vincent (Dr. Amy Jo Fischer) of Kernersville; a brother, James (Patricia) of Mukwonago, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Gehrke, Robert Miller, Michael Gehrke, Thomas Plante (Christina), Jennifer Miller, James Miller, Katie Gehrke, Steven Plante, Dean Hoth, William Hoth, three sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He loved them all dearly. Upon high school graduation, he joined the Air Force. Ron began work at Western Electric, while attending college at night graduating cum laude from Loyola in Baltimore, Maryland. He married his high school sweetheart, Kay, at age 20. After retiring from Lucent Technologies, he began a second career at Wake Forest Baptist Health (formerly Bowman Gray School of Medicine) as vice president (emeritus) of human resources for 17 years, retiring at 72. He enjoyed his work and the people he worked with very much. Ron was very active in his church as a Eucharistic minister, reader and held various other positions. He was just as active in his community. He was instrumental in bringing the Crosby golf tournament to Bermuda Run Country Club, active in the United Way, Bermuda Run town councilman and Davie County commissioner, benefits director for the Lucent Retiree organization and more. He and Kay were very active in the Telephone Pioneers of American. Ron enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards, watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Trellis Supportive Care or the Davie County Humane Society.
James ‘Jim’ Lewis Thorneburg
James “Jim” Lewis Thorneburg, 82, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020. Jim was born on Feb. 25, 1937, in Statesville, to Lewis and Mattie Thorneburg. Lewis and Mattie founded what was originally Thorneburg Hosiery Mill in 1953. Jim joined the business in 1960 after serving in the United States Navy Submarine Service. Jim invented and patented Thorlo brand activity specific socks, creating a new market for the sock industry and was inducted into the Sporting Goods Hall of Fame in 2015. He is survived by six children: Lynn Thorneburg, Dana Thorneburg Sineath, Landon Thorneburg, Amber Thorneburg, Erica Thorneburg MarcAntonio, and Carter Thorneburg, and six grandchildren: Parker Thorneburg, Kendall Thorneburg, Sam Sineath, Ethan Sineath, Ana Hockaday-Thorneburg, and James Thorneburg. He is also survived by two stepchildren: Ryan Ellender and Natalie Ellender Whelton, and their children: Thomas Ellender, Adeline Ellender, Pearse Whelton, and Eamonn Whelton. The family will host a celebration of Jim’s life at the Statesville Country Club from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, guests will be invited to speak at 6 p.m. Entrance at the 18th Hole dining room.
