The Salem Glen Mask Makers started organizing to make face masks last April 3 with the intention of donating masks to Clemmons essential workers. That continues to be their focus although it is not easy to get the information out to businesses: that if there is a need for masks at their business, the Salem Glen Mask Makers can make them. Why? Well, there are an amazing number of small and large businesses here in Clemmons, and the Mask Makers are a small but busy group.
In the past six weeks, they have donated more than 1,000 masks to grocery stores, auto shops, the fire department, the elementary and middle school staffs here in Clemmons, some business chains, a law office, and the Clemmons Courier. Their constant focus is the Clemmons Food Pantry staff, volunteers and clients. The neighbors of Salem Glen have generously donated to support this community effort.
There are others in the Clemmons area who are sewing as well. Different individuals and groups may have different approaches, but all home sewing volunteers are focussed on keeping our Clemmons community, businesses, government employees, non-profits and citizens as safe as possible during this COVID-19 pandemic.
The group will continue to sew masks for Clemmons organizations as long as there is a need.
Requests for masks from the Salem Glen Mask Makers can be made at eomeara10@me.com. Organizations should include number of masks needed.
