Avery “Bud” Pike Sr.

Mr. Avery “Bud” Pike, Sr., 97, of Clemmons, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his home. He was born February 26, 1919 in Hudson County, NJ to Hallie Wilson Pike and James Henry Pike. Mr. Pike was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during World War II and an active member of the V.F.W. Post #9010. He was a faithful member of Center Grove Baptist Church for over 23 years and retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture. He was a faithful husband, father and grandfather and was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Pauline “Polly” Beshears Pike; two children, Avery L. Pike, Jr. (Jean) of Courtney and Dawn Thompson (Phil) of Boonville; four grandchildren, Laura Hardy, Cameron Phillips, Mike Pike and Pat Pike and four great grandchildren, Avery Pittman, Kensley Phillips, Jace Phillips and Jessica Pike. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Center Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Corts officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Eleanor Mae Pishner Chittum

Eleanor Mae Pishner Chittum, 70, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born December 25, 1945 in Fayette, W. Va. to Dominic and Josephina M. Fontana Pishner. Surviving are 2 daughters, Angie Alvino Adams (Kent) and Veronica Chittum Visco (Tony); a son, John Alvino; 4 grandchildren, Matt King, Victoria Alvino, Nichole Alvino and Hunter Villanueva; a sister, Lucy Albert; and 2 brothers, Joe Pishner and Larry Pishner. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Frank Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel. Burial followed in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
