What was happening this week in 1981 — Susan Madden, a resident of Clemmons, was promoted to trust officer in the Institutional Funds Management Department at Wachovia Bank and Trust Company in Winston-Salem.

Bill and Susan Pack, who resided in Missouri, visited with their parents, Walter and Lilian Pack of Center Grove Road and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Alexander of Idols Road. The couple were both graduates from West Forsyth High School.

Fred Garland Jr., of Clemmons, was named vice president of actuary products of Integon Life Insurance Company.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Michael Hunter of Harper Road in Clemmons, announced the birth of their second child, a daughter,  Mary Elizabeth.

Sarita Laird of Clemmons won a $100 scholarship for her poise and appearance in the sixth annual Forsyth County Junior Miss Pageant staged at the Glenn Junior High School auditorium.

Mrs. Barbara Stuckey, president of the Clemmons Homemakers, was cited as the most outstanding local club leader at the Forsyth Extension Homemaker Achievement Program.

The Clemmons West Garden Club held its monthly meeting at the home of Mary Jo Hyde. Eight members were presented with the ribbons they won at the Dixie Classic Fair. The winners were Barbara Bear, Jessie Cooper, Mary Jo Hyde, Barbara McDaniel, Ann Raines, Marilyn Wright and Linda Wylam.

Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Watkins of Brewer Avenue recently had their son and his family, Lindsay and Judy Watkins and children Elaine and Mark of Florence, Alabama for a week’s visit.
